1-      Marra my 2 friends and I were at the mall. We were late for something and I had to go into a store. My friend #1 was making me laugh, ou no3y I put my head down shway lama a’97ak (don’t ask why. Madre.) fa I bumped into this lady by accident .. This lady had on a HOT pink juicy training suit, blonde-ish straight hair (ya3ne tamless), hot pink lipstick, smokey brown eye ou Gina slippers. Anyway, de3amt feeha bil ghala6 wela I hurriedly said “sorry sorry!” and speed-walked away. Apparently I was fast, la2anna my two friends waray were laughing. Laish? La2anna when I walked away the lady laffat 3alay ou galat “Mashallah mishtaaaa6aaaaa:O!” …. Girl, what? It made me laugh, bas mishta6a 3ala shino? The fact that I apologized wela ina your lipstick+sandal combo half-blinded me fa I had to run away…? Pshhhaih

2-      Marra my sister and I were walking in a mall. This random Indian jedamy was LITERALLYYYYYY running with a shopping cart with a “I AM THE CHAMPION” look on his face. The shopping cart was completely empty. I kept walking assuming that he was going to slow down lama he got close to ACTUAL HUMAN BEINGS …and move his cart. Il7abeeb kammaaaaaaal wala chinna he’s in a public place. Lama he got close, he didn’t swerve or move in the slightest fa I had to do a ninja move to get out of the way (I jumped to the side ninja-style). ELMUSHKELA HE DIDN’T STOP. THE EFF IS WRONG WITH THIS GUY!? Ilmohim, lafait wela ashouf three guys laughing HYSTERICALLY at me. Jad one of them masek ba6na. I couldn’t help but laugh at the realization of what I did. I’m kind of curious about what would have happened lo I didn’t move. Would he have bumped into me ou 6ayarni?:O

I never had one of those “6e7t 3ala wayhy omg fashla” moments. I don’t usually fall, el7imdillah. But if I did I’d probably brush it off.

Anyway, SHAAAAAARE! What are your embarrassing moments?

I didn’t sleep till about 5 AM, and woke up around 1 PM.

I celebrated with my family first at PF Changs corniche, which was awesome.

Then at night my friends surprised me with an indian themed dinner party! LOVED IT! It was SO unexpected! Wayed ta3ebaw 7alhum but it was incredibly sweet of them.

I would show pictures and gifts and whatnot but I’m exhausted. I’ll update this later x

I’m glad people are getting what they rightfully deserve. POWER TO THE PEOPLE! … and all that jazz.

I’m not here to talk about politics, just  because I feel pretttttttty passionately about some things ou mabe my blog ikoun a place to discuss or debate anything.

Bas it made me think about how insane this is, and it reminded me of the French Revolution. The French fought against an unjust King (Louis XVI). Mithil minooo? Mithil TUNIS!

Now, the surrounding European states were against the French Revolution and feared it tremendously. Why? Because kanaw khayfeen it affects their people. It eventually did with the Russian Revolution. People saw how much power they really had, decided to riot and get what they want.

Similar to how after the Tunisian public rebelled against a corrupt president, the Egyptians decided to take that road too. Turkish people were right behind them, protesting in Istanbul for the freedom of Egyptian citizens. WOOP @ the fact that Arabs are standing together! BOO @ the fact that people are dying and chaos is all around us.

Salvador Dali- Surrealism: Spanish GENIUS. Painter, sculpture, interior designer, fashion designer, director, and animation artist the list goes on and on… never has there been such a diverse artist with such talent! His pieces are always disturbing yet erotic at the same time. Dali was obviously sexually frustrated at one point which was reflected in a lot of his paintings as well as structures such as The Dream of Venus. Nonetheless, he was a genius. He was the quirky type. Salvador was also the one that designed the Chup Chups logo! Shy at first then decided to morph into an eccentric yet confident artist when he moved to New York by his late 20s. He definitely is not the “father” of surrealist art, but he could have possibly been the most effective. The French artist Andre Breton is the Father of Surrealist art, who was one of the reasons Dali moved to Paris to pursue surrealism. Igloun ina the idea of surrealism is to give or enhance a feeling and not to analyze an idea. Ya3ni they don’t expect you to understand anything, bas they want you to feel something from the confusion.

This is called the Three Sphinxes. The depth in this piece is PERFECTION. I love how he made the last sphinx seem foggy and almost blended in with the background. In the bottom right corner where the shadow is, it suggests another sphinx shadowing the first which adds the slightest bit of mystery to the piece. To me, the first sphinx symbolizes a nuclear bomb and/or war, which is also shown by the pool of blood at the foot of this sphinx. Warah the second sphinx morphs into 2 tree’s merging to form one. This could imitate the human life and the relationship between parents and their offspring. The offspring could be symbolized by the third sphinx, although it isn’t very clear. You could also look at this painting from a different perspective in which Dali implies that from war or conflict, rebirth arises and this cycle repeats (represented by the third sphinx). It gives a feeling or a sense of hope yet despair.

This is what I mean. Surrealism takes you to a different world, where everyone sort of shapes the idea or concept behind the piece to suit him or herself. You can literally make it whatever you want it to be.

These are a couple of Salvador Dali’s beautiful jewelry pieces:

The first is called “The Tree of Life” necklace. GORGEOUS!!!! Gold with diamonds sprinkled around the edges of the leaves and branches, with two saphires dangling down from the center and another gold drop in between. So beautiful. The idea of this is quite simple. Beautiful life + two saphires representing parents + gold drop symbolizing offspring = tree of life. This looks better in normal lighting btw, but this is the clearest photo I could get.

I GASPED WHEN I SAW THIS. How BEAUTIFUL! This is called “The Royal Heart” brooch by Salvador Dali. It’s a golden heart with a cube cut out of it with a RUBY studded heart in the middle and a pearl encrusted crown with small emeralds and diamonds on the base of the crown. Brb, while I die. You walk in and immediately feel relaxed. The atmosphere, smell and interior design meshed perfectly together. The receptionists are extremely sweet and helpful. You pick the type of massage you want, how long you want it and what oil to use then you’re done! I had the Balinese massage with Jasmine oil for 90 minutes (in case you’re wondering, this cost 28 KD).

My friend and I are particularly uncomfortable when it comes to people touching us, so we were a bit hesitant to it all. Bas I can honestly say that it didn’t affect me in the slightest. My masseuse, Benji, was extremely professional. She would constantly ask if the pressure and the massage was okay and if I needed anything. It was AMAZING. I honestly felt like I was brought back to life by the end of it

Anyway awal ma you’re done with the massage you go to the waiting room and your masseuse will provide you chamomile tea, freshly cut apples, a warm neck rest cushion, and a blanket. Then you can leave, lol. They also have a MENS branch called “Men Time Spa”. I’m assuming it’s good as well? If any of you guys have been there, please share your experiences.

Ps: this is the third time I’ve been. I’ve also tried their facials, they’re okay. Nothing special though.

Alright ba3dain re7na 20.24K also in avenues in phase 1, foug Forever 21. This is the nail spa we usually go to get our nails done. We’re used to it, it’s pretty, and the ladies are efficient as well as qualified. I’ve been to nail spa’s where the manicurist MNAAAAFSA! Akhaf agoulaha shay la2anna SHE has the weapons (aka sharp nail file thingy). Bas the girls at 20.24K are SO sweet! I had 2 working on me ou kil wa7da 7laiwa akthar min ilthania. I changed my nail polish about 3 times and all they did was smile and make small talk, EXACTLY the way I like it. They also have a mini-bar, and I must say their Pina Colada is the bomb.

I’ve heard that some people say inna Kuwaiti girls are high maintenance. They probably are. But can you blame them? Ako 9alonat EVERYWHERE. Literally. Bil jam3eya, malls, fer3, everywhere. I’m not saying that’s the sole reason, but honestly in this day and age, it’s hard not to try to look good. Especially with the media’s affect on everyone. Foug hatha, it’s not like Kuwaiti men are very forgiving when it comes to appearances. In my opinion, elsha3ab ilKuwaiti bkubra wayed e7eb yetratab. You rarely see wa7da or wa7ed sheefa (excluding um sha3ar a9far ily tsamy rou7ha Cutiya Pinkya Abercrombie and Fitchiya.) They usually LIKE to look good. Shil mushkila?!

Here are two types of “high maintenance” women (definitions from http://www.midlifebachelor.com/truths/truths-ft7-page3.html):

1. “High maintenance” refers to a woman who requires you to expend a lot of money and/or effort in order to make her happy
2. A woman who is “high maintenance” is typically what I call “foo foo”.   A foo-foo woman is usually very good-looking, and goes to great lengths to maintain or enhance her appearance.

Coming from a girl, type 1 seems a bit annoying and needy. BAS SHIL MUSHKILA IB TYPE 2?! A foo-foo woman is the best. Ba3ad shtaboun akthar min chithe? Although, personally, I believe a woman should only be a foo-foo for herself and herself only. There is no use in trying to impress everyone else before you impress yourself. I repeat: NO.USE. Look good for your own satisfaction, not so you can be the talk of the town.

Back to what I was saying…  Girl, if you’re a foo-foo woman, SO BE IT! But do not depend on a man to make you foo-foo with HIS earnings. Uhwa shthanba ou uhwa shako? He’s a man and should not be expected to act as your kharouf.

It’s never as simple as it sounds, and I completely understand that, but NOT marrying banat deertik just because they “care too much” is just wrong, in my opinion.

I tweeted marra asking “Why is it that more Kuwaiti men are marrying foreigners rather than Kuwaiti women? Is there anything wrong with Kuwaiti women?” (Tara walla I’m not racist, bas I was more so referring to Filipino’s only because ktharaw.) My female tweeps were quite feisty with their “ashkara gold diggers” replies. Although the male tweeps replied with “la bil 3aks, mafeehum shay banat deeratna. Uhma awla min ilajaneb. Etc etc”.

Yeah. I forgot the point of this post while I was writing it lol. Basically:

Why do YOU think Kuwaiti’s are marrying non-Kuwaiti’s and vice versa?

PS: I hate how when a Kuwaiti woman marries a non-Kuwaiti, her children are not as privileged with full rights as opposed to the rights of children with a foreign mom and a Kuwaiti dad. They have Kuwaiti blood, therefore they deserve full rights.

Make a jar of memories. Write in a little note one word or memory on that day w/ the title. The only reason I’m doing this on New Years is so i keep track of the days. It’s quite a simple resolution, compared to others. Bas wanasa! I can imagine myself looking back on it and remembering all the times and thanking myself over and over again for my little jar.

Do this please? You’ll thank me, I promise.

Also, I’m going to take a picture of my jar when I’m done decorating it. (hint: IT SHALL REEK OF GLEETTAR.)

I’m also thinking of writing all the little memories I wrote at the end of each month? What do you guys think?

So recently I cut my hair short… very short. Now, let me begin by saying I’ve never been one to have long hair… or like it, so this wasn’t something new.

I half-did it because I was bored and hated shoulder-length hair on me, but I also did it to provoke anyone and everyone telling me that “7alat ilbent sha3rha il6weel“. Excuse me? Faj2a, kilshay raa7 ou ma hamkum illa long hair? Why? What makes long hair more feminine than short hair? Why does MY femininity have to be defined by the length of my hair? …Why does it even matter?

I, for one, am more than confident with my femininity. I define myself, and therefore I define what femininity means to me. Personally, my hair doesn’t really matter. I could pull a Brittany and shave my head, and I would STILL rock red lipstick and a beautiful dress.

[ Completely random, but why is it that people think every lesbian wants to look/be a man, and every gay guy wants to look/be a woman? I don't really understand that. A7es inna loving the same gender does not mean you want to act like the opposite gender, it means that you're attracted to the femininity/masculinity. Also... if you do act like the opposite sex, does that mean that deep-down you think everyone is attracted to the opposite sex? *sigh* Ma fihamt 3alaikum. Basically my point is, homosexuality is not synonymous with transsexualism. FARG. (Food for thought people. Don't get offended.) ]

I get stared at now a LOT . Chinna the fact that I have short hair is blasphemy. Oh, and what’s with people shaking their heads in disapproval? Mino gaa9 3alaikum ou galkum I asked/cared/gaveashit about YOUR approval/opinion? I must say though… I love it when women (particularly the elderly) stare. I always give them the biggest “HI-rub-it-in-your-face-i-love-me” smile

Do what you want. Do NOT let other people tell you what’s acceptable and what isn’t when you know for a fact that you’re not doing anything wrong. Our society made its so-called “rules” because a couple of old ladies got together and gossiped about what THEY thought was right and wrong. It’s sad, but it’s fact.

To me, femininity is: the way you walk with poise, talk intelligently, & present yourself in a respectable manner.

Nothing more, nothing less.
